Klarify, a health-tech allergy tracking app, underwent a full mobile transformation in just 3 months. Praella rebuilt the backend using Apache Kafka and microservices, achieving lightning-fast response times (~0.8ms). The app size was reduced from 60MB to 15MB, with enhanced UX, real-time pollen and air data via Breezometer, dynamic quizzes, and custom SDKs enabling live updates without new builds.
Challenge, approach, and impact
Complex legacy system migration
Klarify ALK faced the challenge of migrating from an outdated and rigid system that limited platform scalability and functionality. The transition from Contentful CMS to a more modern, flexible Strapi CMS had to be executed without data loss or service interruption, while simultaneously implementing new features to improve user experience and support future product growth.
Real-time pollen and allergy data integration
A key challenge was integrating reliable, accurate, and real-time pollen and allergy information into the app. This required efficient connection to the Breezometer API and handling large volumes of data to deliver timely and relevant updates to users, posing technical complexity in designing and scaling the system for rapid data refresh.
Cross-platform mobile app performance
Developing a mobile app that offers seamless user experience and optimal performance was a major challenge. The app needed fast response times, low battery consumption, and smooth navigation, while integrating complex features like push notifications and real-time data updates to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
