The Web application - prototype covered a few layers as mentioned before. The backend was developed in Python/Django and for text recognition, AWS Textract was utilized. The scraper was written in Scrapy. As for Databases MySQL and ElasticSearch were used. Matching receipt data with products was configured by a data scientist. The frontend was written in React. Later on, we developed a mobile application with many new features written in React Native.


Solutions

In the beginning, the goals were to build the web application, consisting of the following layers:

Backend algorithms to allow passive tracking of consumption behaviour
Databases
Backend UI
Frontend Web-App with User Profile Creation

Quite soon, we switched to React Native, allowing us to build a native mobile application for both Android and iOS. All backend services could of course be neatly integrated without additional efforts. The backend algorithms (1) where continuously improved throughout the course of the project.


Approach

The application in the first months has been delivered to 1000+ first users, so the company was able to meet their goals.


Results

The prototype helped Inoqo gain external funding and the mobile app put ideas and values into practice.
We created a functional application that enabled our client to verify the assumed concept.
