Unpacking the daily life of Vedad, Head of BD at APP IT

Time to meet the Head of Business Development at APP IT, Vedad!

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

At this stage of developing our business, day-to-day schedule is very dinamic and usually covers a lot of different activities in terms of sales and business development. Starting with a quick coffee in the morning while checking emails and meetings for the day.

Second part of the day is usually reserved for prospecting and getting in touch with potential customers and business partners.

Third part of the day is usually reserved to sync some internal activities with our HR Manager and management team.

What drew you to IT? Have you always worked in business development roles?

If I need to stand out one or even two things that brought me to BD department of APP IT, those would be: a chance to use all of previous knowledge and implement it through different activities for further development & desire and vision of APP IT management to move forward, align and scale on different levels.

In your opinion, what are the hallmark traits of a great business developer?

Business development as itself covers a lot of different areas. Being able/ready to detaily analyze the current state of business; setting the right goals and KPIs (shorterm and longterm); defining a way of properly implementing those goals & defining the right process.

Together with determination and readiness to deal with different challenges on a daily base, everything mentioned above will help you to develop even more as a BD Manager and I'm sure will bring a great results for yourself and rest of the team.

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

When it comes to hobbies and other activities I am trying to stay active on the basketball court since I was a basketball player for years. What is interesting here is that basketball actually had a huge impact on my decision to join APP IT.

Faruk (current CEO) was my "co-worker and soldier on the basketball field" so we decided to join our forces once again after 10 years and make some great results on the business field.

Speaking longterm, my plan within APP IT to stay healthy and completely fit into company "running culture" since we have a lot of great guys and girls who are dedicated to represent itself and APP IT in a positive way during every marathon.

Longterm projects is defined in a way to run a 20k marathon 6 months to year from now :) with a help of great teammates :)

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Hmmmm... Speaking about meals, I would probably pick something from our Bosnian cuisine since we have a lot of tasty dishes to choose from.

But, for this purpose I would say a Bosnian pie with meat, cheese or potato or our local delicy "cevapcici" made on any type of barbecue at any time and any place :)

I believe most of my colleagues would bear with me regarding this choice... :)

What's your favorite quote, or motto?

If we want to move forward, do/make something that we will be proud of; bigger picture around us is something we should consider especially in business.

In my opinion, it's good to step aside sometimes and try to realize what is happening in our private/business life from different point of view and with different eyes.

We should be ready to get outside our comfort zone and try something new. This is the only way how we can learn, develop more and get maximum out of yourself...
