Talking goals and aspirations with Danilo Ćalić

Time to meet the UI/UX Designer & Product Owner at ElanWave, Danilo!

Why did you join ElanWave, and what has kept you here?

I joined ElanWave officially in March of 2021, but I was freelancing a bit since February. I joined because of the amazing relationship that was developing while freelancing, along with the transparency and honesty from the teammates.

What has kept me here is the combination of my potential being recognized and tapped into, and opportunities for growth in any direction I would want. The potential bred new responsibilities and a refreshing sense of purpose here.

If it's not quite obvious, blue is my favourite colour.

How has ElanWave helped you in your career development?

My teammates from ElanWave managed to recognize some traits in me which I have been cultivating for a while but not actualized properly. I always wanted to expand my role into a role with a more strategic look at the projects, opportunities and problems that need to be solved.

ElanWave enabled me to cultivate that by giving me new responsibilities in a space in which I was able to learn and grow.

This resulted in me being of more use in multiple projects throughout the company.

How do you describe your work personality vs. your home life personality?

Honestly, sometimes it's kinda hard to distinguish the two. I care for my colleagues as I would for friends, share their successes, and be of use in troubles.

In communication, I'm pretty easygoing, and both at home and at work I tend to mediate, moderate and unite colleagues towards common goals.

What’s your next step, or a few goals you’d like to accomplish in life, or while with ElanWave?

I wouldn't say I dream big per se, but some of the goals would be starting a family, a couple of properties in the mountains or somewhere on the Adriatic coast, being a good parent, and long and simple life in general.

Also, I'd love to own a vintage Porsche. :)

Are you an iPhone or android type of person?

I am totally an Apple fanboy which is ironic since I was a big Apple hater prior to 2015 when I got my first MacBook. Gotten used to the whole ecosystem in the meantime.

However, being an Apple fanboy does not turn me away from other good hardware and software around. Especially because ElanWave is a Microsoft Gold Partner. :)

What did you want to be when growing up?

I was like every kid: an astronaut and a racecar driver, preferably at the same time.

I managed to lower my expectations in the meantime and align them with what I really wanted. :)
