A prototype AI assistant that functions as a chat and interactive guide on product pages. It helps customers select the right products, answers questions in real time, explains product details, and provides personalized support, making the online shopping experience smoother and more intuitive.
Challenge, approach, and impact
1. Overcoming Limitations of Off-the-Shelf AI Solutions
Existing third-party assistants lacked performance and language capabilities. The challenge was to deliver relevant, high-quality responses by providing the AI with rich catalog and contextual data.
2. Balancing Response Speed with Output Quality
Optimizing AI response time without sacrificing answer relevance posed a challenge, as high-quality recommendations required real-time catalog searches and deep content retrieval.
3. Comprehensive Support & User Intent Handling
The assistant needed to handle a wide range of scenarios—from general advice and catalog searches to answering off-topic queries, reading site content, and technical consultations—while ensuring smooth escalation to human support if needed.
4. Seamless UX Integration & Ongoing Maintenance
Integrating the assistant into the e-shop required thoughtful UX design to minimize perceived wait times and ongoing maintenance to adapt to evolving catalog, promotions, and user needs.
