A SocialTech mobile platform built with React Native and Node.js that lets users explore Košice’s hidden art through interactive maps, GPS navigation, and gamification. By combining open data, social engagement features, and scalable architecture, the app connects people to culture through a modern, community-driven digital experience.
Challenge, approach, and impact
1. Dynamic Map Integration with Geolocation
We needed to build a responsive and interactive map capable of displaying hundreds of art spots across Košice. The challenge included integrating real-time GPS tracking to guide users to locations and detect visit confirmations automatically, ensuring accuracy across both Android and iOS platforms.
2. Designing a Scalable Gamification System
Creating an engaging yet manageable gamification system required a custom architecture for tracking visits, awarding points, badges, and managing monthly leaderboards. The system had to be both fun and technically robust, with the flexibility to expand as more features and users were added.
3. User Profiles and Social Engagement
The app needed to support individual user profiles with personal stats, visited places, earned rewards, and uploaded content. This required secure data handling, real-time syncing, and UI/UX that encouraged participation and fostered a sense of community around urban exploration.
