In this project, we worked with an award-winning non-profit organization called Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation on a project called BlossomCare. BlossomCare is a Meta AI (Llama-based) mental health AI companion on WhatsApp that allows enrolled women burdened by stigma to access mental and emotional health support for free.
Challenge, approach, and impact
Traditional healthcare comes with stigma for some
Despite efforts to improve healthcare access in Africa sex workers and pregnant teens remain underserved. The traditional healthcare system often fails to reach them due to the stigma attached to their occupation, compounded by a lack of resources and awareness of available services. There is a clear need for a solution that provides these women with the anonymity, confidentiality and timeliness they require to feel safe when seeking medical care.
