When Svenn launched, it quickly became a go-to time-tracking tool for Norwegian construction businesses. Over the years, we’ve worked on 12 modules — key functionalities — within Svenn: Time tracking, Hours account, Absences, Clients, Products and calculation, Projects, Scheduler, Team comms, Checklists, Qualifications, Employees, Accounting, and Payroll.
Challenge, approach, and impact
The system ran on a fragile architecture and struggled with performance issues. Every new feature became harder to implement, and as more users joined, the cracks started to show.
The Client wanted their customers to be able to customize almost every aspect of the report, including being able to filter by material, types of work, vacations, overtime, etc. An old database with some of that data was available, but it needed to be transferred to a new platform and revalidated. Additionally, the system was meant to have multiple user roles: User, Manager, Company Admin, and Super Admin, each with their own restrictions and abilities. The need to implement
