We helped Oatly launch a robust ecommerce platform by integrating Shopify with their existing WordPress site, enabling seamless shopping without compromising brand storytelling. Our work included custom store design, Recharge subscription setup, Klaviyo email automation, and ongoing SEO/CRO optimization. Challenge, approach, and impact
Outdated Subscription System
Oatly’s subscription system was built on Recharge but was rigid and inflexible, limiting their ability to scale and customize. This system created bottlenecks as Oatly’s DTC business grew rapidly, reducing the potential for experimentation with subscription models. The challenge was to modernize the infrastructure and enable more dynamic control without disrupting the user experience or current customer base.
Fragmented Systems and Processes
Oatly’s backend relied on multiple disconnected platforms, resulting in inefficient workflows. Marketing teams had to wait for developers to implement changes, causing delays in campaigns and reducing agility. This fragmentation hampered the ability to respond quickly to market changes and customer demands, making it hard to maintain a competitive edge in the dynamic beverage industry.
Complexity in Localization
Managing subscriptions across multiple countries introduced significant complexity in language support, tax compliance, and shipping logistics. Oatly needed to streamline these regional variations to avoid duplication of effort and minimize errors.
