Background
After a successful application launch in the UAE market, our client’s startup social app began expanding globally and faced scaling challenges. The app's backend was deployed only in a single UAE region and was unable to scale, resulting in performance issues for users in the US and slowing down further growth.
The client's input
The backend was a monolithic, non-scalable system storing all data on the server. It featured a complex, inefficient database using unoptimized raw SQL and a single relational database that didn’t meet all business needs. Business logic was tangled in spaghetti code, and error monitoring was missing.
