At the start of the project, I was hired as a consultant because the company lacked sufficient expertise in developing iOS mobile applications. I prepared the entire application framework, which was then further developed by the team. Later, the development was outsourced to a subcontractor, marking the end of my involvement. After about four years, the development was brought back to the internal team when it became clear that the quality was unsatisfactory and the code was burdened with technical debt. At that point, I was asked to assist again, and for the next three years, we refactored the application together, introducing, among other things, the VIPER architecture and other modern solutions. I eventually concluded my work with the company when more exciting opportunities for growth arose, including the Uproad and Ricardo projects.

The Uproad project was highly innovative for its time. It aimed to replace traditional highway infrastructure in the U.S., such as toll booths and cameras, with a mobile application, and to integrate systems from various infrastructure providers so that users would receive a single bill for their entire trip, regardless of the ownership of individual road segments. Additionally, the app would allow users to predict the final toll, which depends on numerous factors, such as the time of day, traffic conditions, and travel direction. I participated in the project during the initial sales process, where, together with other members of the Nomtek team, we successfully convinced the client to choose our company, competing against agencies from around the world. At that point, my role ended temporarily, and the Nomtek team took over the project’s development. Later on, I I was asked to assist with the components under significant time pressure when a critical issue occurred.

Our app was intended to replace the existing one in the store, which had a large user base (approximately 1.2 million active users). The client was also seeing growth in mobile channel sales, making this project a top priority. A deadline of nine months was set, though the exact scope of work was not clearly defined. It was understood that after nine months, the new app needed to have enough functionality to be released in the App Store, which meant at least supporting efficient product search and browsing, as well as the bidding and purchasing process. We successfully completed the project on time — within the nine-month deadline — which is rare in IT implementations. I worked on this project with another developer from Nomtek, and our company also provided QA support. In addition to programming and testing, our responsibilities included consulting on requirements and effectively renegotiating them to deliver maximum value as quickly as possible.
