About
MobiDev upgraded the Wholesale Floor Covering Credit Association’s (WFCCA) legacy web portal from outdated Ruby 2.5 and Rails 5 versions. Facing a tight 3-month deadline, the team delivered a stable, secure platform for exchanging sensitive credit data. The project involved a comprehensive code audit, bug fixing, and the creation of detailed documentation, ensuring a smooth transition and long-term reliability for WFCCA’s members across Canada.
Challenge, approach, and impact
Navigating Tech Debt under Pressure
WFCCA needed to secure and stabilize its central credit-information exchange platform after its original developer shifted focus away from the Ruby on Rails stack. The legacy code had become a liability, lacking modern security patches and suffering from stability issues. The scope required a full technical audit of the Ruby 2.5.8/Rails 5.2.4.2 environment and a complete upgrade within just three months to prevent operational downtime for its nationwide membership.

Testimonials
Lindsay C.
WFCCA
“We are a non-profit society that was in need of a website update. When we reached out to MobiDev they were very patient with us as we do not have a technical team and they took the time to walk us through the process and explain what was going to happen. That was very reassuring. Their communication throughout the entire process was excellent. We were provided regular updates so at no time did we feel that we did not know what was going on. They were extremely professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you again for an excellent job.“
