Managing the Misinformation Surge
The pandemic sparked an exponential increase in misinformation, especially about SARS-CoV-2, leading to significant public health risks. The challenge was to develop a tool that could swiftly and accurately debunk this fake news while being user-friendly and accessible to a broad audience.
Promoting Universal Participation and Accessibility
To be effective, the platform needed broad user engagement. This called for not only motivating public participation but also ensuring that the #FakeHunter tool was universally accessible, reaching users regardless of their technical abilities or device preference.
Ensuring Optimal Performance under High Traffic
Given the importance and potential popularity of #FakeHunter, we expected high traffic to the platform. We needed to develop a robust system that could handle a large volume of interactions smoothly, catering to two distinct user groups - the public reporting fake news and the fact-checkers reviewing these reports.
