Challenge, approach, and impact
Lack of development resources with appropriate expertise
Untamed lacked the resources to implement the designed and approved technical strategy on time. This was not just about the number of people but, more importantly, about the expertise required to carry out all the planned changes to the backend, UX, and deployment processes outlined by the CTO.
Outdated backend infrastructure affecting system scalability and maintainability
The legacy backend infrastructure could no longer support the company’s growth ambitions. Its outdated architecture made it difficult to scale operations smoothly and adapt to increasing customer demand. At the same time, ongoing maintenance became costly and time-consuming, draining resources that could have been used for innovation.
Poor user and shopping experience caused by an unoptimized frontend
The frontend lacked proper optimization in code structure and performance tuning, which negatively affected responsiveness and page load speed. Inefficient rendering and insufficient attention to UX best practices created friction in the shopping journey.
No automated deployment, which led to manual errors, longer time-to-market, and higher maintenance costs
The absence of an automated deployment pipeline forced developers to rely on manual releases, increasing the risk of human errors. Each deployment cycle required additional time and resources, slowing down the delivery of new features and fixes. This lack of automation not only prolonged time-to-market but also drove up maintenance overhead and reduced overall system reliability.
