Extending Google Patents capabilities for U.S. Patents
So while Google Patents make it easier for lawyers to search and find the text of the patents, for legal reasons, they have to also include in their citations the exact page and line where that citation is taken from the original scanned document. This is something that's not available in Google Patents and is time consuming to figure out exactly the location.
In a context where the vast majority of your work is done to a web interface, your most logical solution would be a web extension and the lost time and frustration that come with switching between multiple applications.
With everything unified into one context, efficiency can reach new heights.
Improving matching based on A Fast Alignment Scheme for OCR Evaluation
Our biggest challenge came in the research and development process and it was the fact that the text OCRed in the PDF was not perfectly matching the one we expected from the HTML page.
To overcome this, we decided to implement an algorithm proposed by a research paper called A Fast Alignment Scheme for OCR Evaluation, which was also implemented by Microsoft in on of their projects, called Genalog.
