What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions while speaking about my job to anyone not related to the IT world. In general, there are several duties I have to perform every day, like scrum events, reports, or progress/budget tracking. But it’s fair to say no day can be the same, and that’s what I like the most in the Project Manager’s work!
The list of my responsibilities is quite long, but If I have to point out a few constant actions it would be: daily standups meetings, project status reports for the clients, and troubleshooting.
I’m a proactive person, and I like speaking to others about the project progress, issues, or risks we see. Sometimes I deep dive into requirements in a backlog refinement to discover new edge cases and make sure that everything that’s needed to start the development is in place.
Of course, it’s easy to start a discussion about the latest meme you saw on the internet or the last integration party, but the challenge is to keep the team’s focus while discovering a solution for an edge case you just found out. What makes it especially tough is working in a fully remote team.
From my perspective, there is one common point for all my responsibilities - communication. A Project Manager has to have great communication skills, and without these, I don’t think it’s possible to be a good Project Manager.
Can't wait to visit Thailand again!
What do you like most about Angry Nerds?
PEOPLE! It’s always about the people you work with. I haven’t met any Nerd with a negative attitude that wouldn't help me even outside of work.
After the first day spent with Nerds, I already knew this is the place I want to be with the people I want to work with!
What I appreciate is the fact that despite the rapid growth of the organization, we still maintain such a friendly atmosphere and close ties with each employee.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
I love any kind of sport. I have played soccer since I was 7 years old. I hope to play as long as health will allow it, but what gives me even a bigger kick than just playing soccer is teaching young adepts of this sport. I also had a short episode with basketball, cycling, and running.
In winter, except for typical winter sports, I focus on indoor sports like squash or swimming.
What’s your next step, or a few goals you’d like to accomplish in life, or while with Angry Nerds?
I have a few areas where I want to achieve some long-term goals. For sure one of them is having my family live calmly in my own house. Another one is to visit every continent.
Until now, I had a chance to visit Europe and Asia, but I have plans for next year to add to the list South America! As you might assume, after my previous answer: the 3rd area is a sport.
My main goal, for now, is to improve my swimming skills to start in a Triathlon in the next couple of years!
The first tournament my young team took part in!
What is the best vacation you’ve been to?
I would say it was my trip to Thailand in 2020! On the self-organized trip, I had a chance to drive along the whole of Thailand, eat great local food, and rest in the very south of Thailand!
For sure, that's where my love for Asia started.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I’m 100% sure it’ll be a Pad Thai with shrimps eaten in one of the stands on the Khao San Road in Bangkok!
