In today's article, we will get to know Andreea Pantea, Test Automation Engineer at FXBITS. She started her journey as a QA almost 3 years ago and she’s been part of the company for 8 months now. One of her many qualities is that she’s a goal-oriented person who’s not comfortable with settling for less than great. In her spare time, she likes to spend quality time with family and friends.

What is the main value that you appreciate the most in FXBITS?

I think one of the core values I cherish at FXBITS is trust.

I have had this feeling since I joined the company and I feel it even more now. It is built from the top: Paul (manager at FXBITS) trusts me to ensure the quality of my software product and that I can make my own decisions.

With this trust, I can build a secure relationship with the client, which is reflected in the positive feedback I receive about my work.

What area of your job do you enjoy the most?

As a quality assurance engineer, I can say the most enjoyable part of the job is finding bugs.

I especially like the tricky ones that nobody sees but might affect the whole product.

I try to keep a list of everything I have tested in my head and add new things while enjoying the "bug hunt". This way I am not only a part of the final product, but I can also help the client with the requirements at the beginning of the process.

What are the most common challenges of your day-to-day job?

I would describe myself as a people person.

When I interact with someone, the most important thing for me is that they feel comfortable in my presence. But I can say that it’s not so easy when you have to fix a problem and find solutions. Things tend to get a little tense. What I'm struggling with at the moment is learning how to address the problem without offending someone's work.

A big part of my job is to find defects in a product that someone has built and I am the one responsible for addressing them. Imagine the "love" I receive every day.

But I can say that I recharge my batteries with a short break and a little chat with the QA community we have built here at FXBITS.

Who are you when colleagues don't see you?

I have a great passion for food, and I’ve turned that passion into cooking. So, most of the time you can find me in the kitchen.

I believe that food brings people together, and what I love most is seeing people around me happy while enjoying a piece of quiche.

I balance my love of food with the sport.

I like to go to the gym, play squash and do yoga.

What is the first thought that pops into your mind when you close your PC on Friday?

I don’t wait for weekends, and I don’t hate Sundays. I know, that’s a bit hard to believe but it’s true when you love what you do. But I like to take my backpack and a hammock and just be in nature. What better way to clear your head than to climb a mountain?

What is the main reason to get out of bed in the morning?

I admit that I am not a morning person and only find that reason after my first cup of coffee. But I'm glad that the company doesn't have strict rules about arrival times and leaves it up to the team to organise them.

This way I can be productive and also give my best.

Since I am also a proactive person, I like to set some goals for the day and make sure I keep them. But the main reason for me to get up in the morning is this question: "What can I do today to learn something new?". And I am happy to say that I often find the answer when I am confronted with new tasks at work that broaden my horizons.

What is your guilty pleasure?

I can't be a food lover if I don't indulge in a few reality TV shows. I just love drama with a side of fries.
