Time to meet the Team Lead at Nignite, Stevica!

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

My primary responsibility is to make sure that the team that I am part of is able to perform.

That means that I guide others, remove their impediments and make tough decisions.

A big part of my job is to delegate work in a way that all team members have the opportunity to learn and grow.

I am also an interface between the development team and management, so I need to ensure a balance between pressure and productivity.

How has Nignite helped you in your career development?

I consider myself lucky because I had the opportunity to work with Nikola early on.

I was fresh out of college and what I needed was practice.

I learned a lot about programming at first but the most important thing was that with time I properly learned how to solve problems.

It was a huge boost to my knowledge and self-confidence.

I would say that it basically formed my engineering and soft skills altogether.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

I really enjoy spending time in nature. Walking in the woods, hiking, visiting lakes.

Playing video games is also something that I enjoy in my free time. I usually play strategy or role-playing games.

I also like playing piano, but I don't do it as much as I did before.

Sometimes I just feel like reading a book on a balcony or simply lying in bed watching movies.

When I want to relax I always go to spa centers.

How do you define success in life?

Success is something that is hard to define because it represents different things to different people.

Primarily, success in life is having the opportunity to spend enough time with people I love and generally having fulfilled, joyful life.

Additionally, it is very important to me to do a job that I love, to be good at it, and be recognized for it.

How do you describe your work personality vs. your home life personality?

I would say that my home personality is not much different from my work personality.

I like to stay organized and keep my promises.

When I do things I like to do it the right way.

I could say that the only difference is that I am much more relaxed at home because I am too focused while I am at work.

What has been your favorite project at Nignite?

My favorite project in Nignite is Operations Management System (MES for mining).

It's software that is used by mining companies to schedule tasks, manage their fleet, track progress and see analytics reports.

The benefit of using it is it has Short Interval Control which means that mine controllers have the opportunity to make decisions earlier than usual therefore improving overall performance.

It also implements standard messages of the manufacturing industry so it can seamlessly integrate with other systems that take part in mine control.
