Time to meet the Project Manager at OLDBOY, Andrés!

Why did you join OLDBOY, and what has kept you here?

I knew about the company through a relative who also works here. I was sick of the big agencies, with a lot of work, long hours, and very little time to live. In OldBoy we have a lot of work, but everyone knows what to do, how to do it, and deliver it quickly. And that is the key to loving your job because it grants you the opportunity to also live your life.

But 'live your life' doesn't mean wasting our time, we continue studying to be increasingly competitive in all fields we manage.

My nephew lives in Georgia and I can't enjoy him as much as I'd want. 

What's your favorite line from a movie?

I don't know if it's my favorite line, but it's the one that came to mind when I read the question. It's from the great 'Kung Fu Panda':

'Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. But today, today is a gift. That's why we called it the present.

I wasn't expecting this from an animated movie and I remember it shocked me.

What drew you to tech? Have you always worked in project management roles?

I never worked as a Project Manager until I started working at OldBoy, but my previous role was as Social Media Manager, and it's very similar work. I've always worked in Digital roles, starting as Community Manager in VLMY&R working mainly for Opel Spain. Then I started working as Social Media Manager in MRM McCann, working for different brands but always with a focus on Opel.

What do you like most about OLDBOY?

The thing I like most about Oldboy is the people who make OldBoy. I've been working for two years with a group of friends. They relate as friends and you're one of their friends the moment you start working with them. This is not a place for people to come and go, a place where when you come back from vacation you don't know half the people. This is a place to stay and enjoy :)

17 years living apart to be able to enjoy now the rest of our lives together. 

What has been your favorite project at OLDBOY?

I love the CSR field, so my favorite project is the 'Cuaderno de la Imaginación' we design every year for TostaRica. We made a coloring book for children hospitalized, to try to make their imaginations fly and stop thinking about their illness. The coloring book is made with the kid's drawings we collect in another TostaRica project, so the children can send a drawing to help other children in their recovery.

What's your favorite quote, or motto?

I have three. I always carry a notebook to use as a work agenda but also to write down my thoughts and ideas. Every time I start a new notebook, I write on the first page three mottos from three school teachers I had when I was 4 years old, 8 years old, and 11 years old:

- With my work and my effort I'll be able to achieve everything I look for.

- Being good isn't enough. We have to be the best ones.

- You can be big, only if you want to.
