Today, we are taking a look at Ana Cristina Arias, one of Hypernova Labs’ Account Executives. She started working with us in April 2021 as part of the expansion plan at Hypernova Labs, after graduating from Purdue University. Her role in the company has expanded to include other responsibilities like overseeing and managing communication and marketing. When she is not at work, you can find her out and about with friends, spending time in nature, or exercising.

Why did you join Hypernova Labs, and what has kept you there?
I graduated in the midst of the global pandemic, which forced me into a brutal job market and a few months of introspection on how I really wanted to jumpstart my career. After a few months of solitude and thinking, I decided I wanted to work in a company that was smaller, innovative, and was pushing to make a tangible difference for people. An opportunity at Hypernova came up, and I knew I couldn’t let it pass.
I may be one of the newer employees, but what I like most here is the friendly environment and the opportunity to see different areas at the same time. Having just recently graduated college, it was important to me to gain experience in different areas and see where my true potential lies, and that is just the opportunity I have received here at Hypernova Labs. I was hired as an account executive for the commercial department, but as time went by, I started to help out and oversee other things like the communication and marketing aspects of the company.
The team here is supportive, friendly, flexible, and what I consider to be the most important quality: they are all available to help and teach whenever someone needs it. It truly is an environment that fosters growth and makes you believe in yourself.
If you could pick one theme for Hypernova Labs to turn into a book about the company, what would it be?
The theme I would pick would definitely be ‘adventure’. There is not a day that a new challenge doesn’t surface here at Hypernova, and everyone gets together and starts brainstorming as a team on how to solve it. There is not a dull day working here, and that is something I appreciate a lot, as it never gets monotonous and the challenges and adventures make us develop a stronger bond and become better team players.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
I’m pretty passionate about wellness and fitness, so you can usually find me doing some sort of physical activity. I enjoy doing Pilates and HIIT workouts, which I usually try to do before work very early in the morning to start my day full of energy and get that boost to thrive at any challenge presented in the workday.
My favorite physical activity is going out for walks in nature with my dog. I adore my dog and I enjoy nature, so getting to do both is something pretty exciting for me. It is a time that I appreciate because it not only allows me to dedicate some quality time to my dog, but to myself. Those walks are usually my introspection time and when I make most of the decisions regarding my life, so they are truly life-changing.
However, what I truly enjoy the most outside of work is having fun with friends. I am a social person by nature, and I love to be out and about and always doing something. I’m an energetic person and I don’t enjoy doing anything, so creating adventures with my friends is something that I always count on in my free time.

How do you define success in life?
I believe success has no definite and absolute meaning. It can look and be measured differently for everyone. Some pair success with money, others pair it with awards and prizes, and others pair it with goals. I personally believe success has more to do with goals and feelings. If you have certain goals and you start to achieve them and feel truly content, that for me is success. To me, you don’t have to be the highest-paid to be successful, you don’t have to be the head of the company to be successful, you just need to be happy and at peace with what you’re doing and feel you are giving it your best.
If you are striving to be the best version of yourself and you feel good and content in doing that, then I find that to be a success. I am a personal believer that we are our own competition, and we should work towards bettering ourselves every day. That is what we constantly try to do at Hypernova Labs.
What is the best vacation you’ve been to?
Anywhere with a beach, friends and some nice cocktails are my go-to. I used to vacation a lot at the beaches of Mexico during my time in university breaks because it is a place where you can completely disconnect and you get to have fun, but also be completely relaxed at the same time.
We have pretty nice beaches here in Panama too, so I love to take vacations inside the country as well, but it is always nice to visit a new place and get to know different cultures. I usually take local trips with my family and then do international experiences with friends, that way I get to have new and quality experiences with both.
