Time to meet the Line Manager and Team Leader at Angry Nerds, Mateusz!

Why did you join Angry Nerds, and what has kept you here?

I joined the company in December 2018 as a C# developer. I decided to join because I had a feeling that having both company owners as active developers can be something interesting. The vibe in the company was great back then and it's even better now. After some time I've been proposed to lead the developers' team in a huge project, where work coordination was crucial. I was eager to do so since I wanted to develop myself in other areas than coding. That went pretty well. 

I started to lead other more and less complicated projects. A year ago I was asked to create a group of people with skills for technical expertise in application architecture which is also a success. The Technical Office is involved in almost every project and its members share their knowledge across the company.

I still work in Angry Nerds because I think this is the company that helps you a lot to develop yourself and helps you to achieve your goals.

Traveling is awesome

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

As a Line Manager, my primary responsibility at the moment is to make sure that "the river flows". This means that every project that my teams are working on is stuffed properly, communication is good and no one feels bad in the environment they work in.

As .Net Technical Office Leader, I help to organize work with on-demand requests that the group needs to point its attention to.

My day-to-day work is mostly being part of calls with Team Leaders, Service Delivery Managers and Project Managers, where we resolve daily issues. Along with other Line Managers, we define processes that constantly need improvements to make our work easier. I also make sure that each of our employees is satisfied with the project and self-development. I do that by coaching and helping to define their goals in professional self-improvement. I also take part in technical meetings and architecture discussions for new and ongoing projects.

What is the favourite part about working for Angry Nerds?

What I like the most, is that every day brings new experiences and that I can constantly learn from others having their support at all times.

How do you define success in life?

To be successful in life means that I can complete all steps required to have my main goal achieved - to be happy and to provide the same to family and coworkers.

What is the best vacation you’ve been to?

A month-long trip to Georgia was the best vacation ever. Nothing was organised, wild trips with local folks through the whole country, awesome food and the best hospitality I have ever experienced. 

The funniest part of this trip was being stuck in a village high in the mountains without any option to go back because of harsh weather. We got help from the Georgian military that was patrolling mountains in the off road vehicle. They brought us down and also we met them two weeks after when we visited Tbilisi. They showed us places where regular tourists would not go or find.
