Time to meet the Senior full-stack developer at Nignite, Nemanja!

What's your favorite quote, or motto?

"Tempus fugit memento mori" - translated to "Time flies, remember you have to die". Even though it sounds sinister, it should be looked upon as a friendly reminder to live your life to the fullest.

Take a risk - ask that girl for a date, try green tea flavored ice cream, enroll in a salsa course, grow a mustache, or shave your head. Don't let adulthood kill your inner child.

Why did you join Nignite, and what has kept you here?

I moved away from a big company where software was used in the daily production of the company's products. There, even though I got valuable experience working with end-users and I could see the product of my work used every day, the emphasis was not on the software itself. Because of that, there were some compromises in code quality allowed, as long as the production didn't suffer.

In Nignite, the software is the final product, and quality is the number one priority. This, and the fact that I could keep improving my skills while working in Nignite, kept me here.

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

Even though I have a passion for technology and gadgets, I prefer spending my free time away from the computer screen as much as possible. I enjoy spending my time in the mountains, hiking and wandering around. Whenever possible, I try to reach some new place I haven't yet visited in the beautiful nature that surrounds us.

I am lucky enough that my spouse enjoys these activities as well, but when we don't have enough time or the weather doesn't allow it - strolling through the city and enjoying a nice cup of coffee is always an option.

If you could only drink one beer for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I am more of a rakija person, but I don't steer clear from beers. If I had to choose that would probably be german Paulaner beer. It's the classic wheat beer that you cannot go wrong with. Light fruity note but not too sweet, with the perfect carbonation level. It goes great with potato wedges and some chicken wings on Friday evening.

What do you like most about Nignite?

I like the fact that employees are free to express themselves. You're not constantly micro-managed, so you're left to do your job the best you can.

Of course, there's always a healthy environment that allows you to ask for help and where asking questions is encouraged. The team is young, the atmosphere is great and the projects are interesting.

Top three life highlights?

It's very difficult to limit the list to only 3 highlights so I'll add one more. I can say that I was very proud of myself when I completed the Belgrade half-marathon (and with a result of sub-2 hours), and when I graduated from the university. After that, the events that probably marked my life the most was the day when I finally bought a house and when I realized I'm going to be a father soon.
