Time to meet one of our tech leads, Zuzanna Hartleb!

What is your role at Tooploox?

I’m a tech lead in a data engineering & machine learning team. Since I joined Tooploox, my role has changed a couple of times.

I started off as a Python web developer. I worked on creating scalable web applications with the Google Cloud Platform, then moved to performance testing and observability. I’ve recently migrated to a team that does data analysis and machine learning.

Python is still my primary programming language, but I’ve also become comfortable working with various cloud and data tools.

How has Tooploox helped you in your career development?

We have built a culture that’s focused on growth and continuous improvement.

In my current project, I saw a need to introduce better performance testing and monitoring and I had the opportunity to lead this initiative, learning new skills as I went.

The teams foster an atmosphere of trust, which makes trying out new ideas and taking on new roles and responsibilities much less stressful.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

Outside of work I spend time taking care of my dog, Nori. My husband and I adopted her from a shelter a couple of months ago. I love spending time with her on walks, training or just chilling on the couch.

I also like reading books on the subject of dog behavior to help me be a better human for our dogs.

Are you an iPhone or android type of person?

Neither one nor the other. I have a very pragmatic approach to technology - I choose whichever devices allow me to be the most efficient.

Right now, I’m using a lot of Apple devices, but I use some smart home devices made by Xiaomi that I would never give up.

What are your three most overused words/phrases?

Data, data, and DATA.

I feel like I use this word in every other sentence. I look for new data sources, ways to transform data, and data to analyze issues and support hypotheses.

I guess I’m obsessed with data.

How do you balance your career at Tooploox with friends & family?

When I’m working from home our dog doesn’t let me work overtime. She comes by and demands playtime and pets.

I spend most of my workday sitting at my desk, so after work, I definitely try to avoid sitting and spend much of my time on walks with my husband and my dog and preparing delicious meals for my family.

I only make exceptions on the “no computer” time to play Minecraft with my nieces and nephews, who live in another city.
