Pixion is a company that values graceful solutions, and our approach internally is no different. We want to grow as engineers and the best way to do that is to surround yourself with only the motivated and the intelligent. End goal? Well, becoming a status symbol among development agencies seems worth our while. What Pixion is doing can hardly be described as revolutionary. After all, we are together to get some satisfaction in knowing that we’re doing something meaningful.
Time to meet the Software Engineer at Pixion, Rut!
If you could switch your job with anyone else within Pixion, whose job would you want?
I'd switch my job with one of our UI/UX designers! Even from a young age, I was always highly interested in graphic design and visual arts. The truth is, one of the first things I learned to do on our old family computer was actually how to work in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I remember coming home from my elementary school classes, finding a sheet of paper or opening a new blank file, and just sketching whatever came into my mind.
Even though I decided to pursue my career towards my other passion, I've always loved drawing (and especially digital art), and I still like to do design-related stuff in my free time, as a hobby. As a software engineer that's developing applications on a daily basis and it's interested in design, I think it would be fun to switch my job with UI/UX designer so I can also see what the creative process behind designing an application from scratch looks like.
Rut in her natural habitat.
How has Pixion helped you in your career development?
Pixion has consistently respected my opinions and accepted my wishes. By encouraging me to try new technologies, learn new things, and get out of my comfort zone as much as possible, Pixion made working truly fun and helped me to find what things I like and don't like doing. Further, it helped me choose in which direction I want my career to develop.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
Currently, I spend most of my time outside of the office in classes learning the Japanese language. I got interested in the Japanese language and culture after I fell in love with Japanese music during my college days so I decided to pursue another degree, in Japanese studies. Learning hundreds and hundreds of kanji is indeed hard, but, trust me, it's surprisingly fun!
In addition to that, you'll usually see me playing games, going to concerts or travelling somewhere.
What is the first concert you attended?
It was a Pink Floyd tribute band concert I went to with my dad when I was a kid and it was awesome. Thank you, dad!
Without good music and green tea or coffee, programming is impossible.
What's your favorite line from a movie?
"You know what kind of plan never fails? No plan. No plan at all. You know why? Because life cannot be planned." - Parasite (2019)
How do you define success in life?
To wake every morning knowing you're able to do things that make you happy and fulfilled while being surrounded by your loved ones.
