Everybody likes the catchphrase “challenge accepted”, but we like “challenge completed” better! With the right people, any goal can be achieved. And by right people we mean those who aren’t afraid of different perspectives. That’s what our team is. Today when everyone claims they’re thinking outside the box, it is our belief there is no box. There are no boundaries when talking about creativity and ideas. We choose to believe in all of the great possibilities that our clients want to accomplish. Only then anything is possible and only a team that isn't afraid of the unknown can create a product that will stand the test of time.

Time to meet the CTO at Kodius, Matija!

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

I'm in charge of matters related to tech. Nowadays, it means helping people out when they're stuck and steering them in the right directions (apologies for when it's the complete opposite of it!), and having them figure out the nitty-gritty details themselves.

What do you find the most challenging at Kodius?

My main challenge is time and getting enough of it to focus on things that matter and trying not to get sidetracked by issues that are not important. I'm unsure how well I'm doing it, though!

In your opinion, what are the hallmark traits of a great CTO?

It's dynamic, both in terms of time flexibility (and not being stuck in a bit cubicle working 9-5) as well as countless different technologies and domains I get to see and work on. But then again, it also has some drawbacks, as the time constraints sometimes mean I'm not as well-versed and/or informed about something as I'd like to be.

What advice do you have for prospective Kodius candidates?

Be proactive, get your hands dirty, seek help when needed (that sounded wrong) and try to help others as much as possible!

Matija likes to run and travel when he is not in the office.

How do you describe your work personality to the personality of your home life?

I can be a bit disorderly and/or neurotic, coffee tends to hype me up a bit, so I have not to drink too much. I'm unsure if that's different than at home, though. =)

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

I'm into running and cycling, though I haven't done much of the latter lately. My wife and I got a kid earlier this year, which means I try to spend more time at home, but I'm slowly getting back into running. For weekends, we like to go on one-day trips to places nearby, e.g., Istria or such.
