Introducing Michał Biarda - our CTO!

Michał was born in Warsaw, Poland, where he has lived his entire life. He earned his master's degree in Information Technology and Econometrics from Warsaw University of Life Sciences; however, as he said: “most of my knowledge in programming came from self-study.”

He is a man of multiple passions, with no time to fulfill all of them. For example, he used to train semi-professionally in the niche sport of Freestyle Footbag and collected multiple medals in Polish, European, and World Championships! Currently, his main hobby is writing novels - he has already published three! Learn more about Michael below and get a glimpse of our team.

What were the circumstances of starting work in ORBA, what has kept you here?

I started working in ORBA over ten years ago as a developer. Back then the company consisted of only two co-CEOs, and they were looking for someone to help them build a project for a promising startup client.

A mutual friend, a graphic designer, introduced us to each other, and it simply clicked. What kept me here for so long is the great atmosphere mixed with professionalism and very nice projects that we are doing for bigger and bigger clients. Also, I almost feel like a co-founder of ORBA ;-).

What are the greatest difficulties you face in your role in ORBA? How do you deal with them?

The greatest difficulties for me are always connected to people. I am sad when someone from the team doesn't feel right for whatever reason. I usually try to deal with such issues by conversation.

What makes you happy?

It makes me happy when I make others happy. I am also super proud of myself when I finally fix one of these impossible-to-fix bugs.

If you were able to have some superpower, what kind of superpower would it be?

The ability to freeze time might have been handy, but only if I could un-freeze some specific people or things :-).

What do you appreciate the most in working at ORBA?

I appreciate the most the ability to work with a great group of professionals who share core values. I love that ORBA is not only developing stuff that someone wants, but actually, it first helps clients to understand what they need; the programming part only starts after that.

What is your favorite way of spending time after work?

I like to spend time with my family, watch TV shows and movies, and read books. I also have my favorite shisha bar, where I go pretty often to relax and to write a chapter of the newest novel ;-).

If you could go back to any past moment of your life, what would you want to experience again?

It is very hard to select one such moment so let me be romantic. I would love to go back to the first date with my wife. We played pool, went to a restaurant, watched a movie, danced in a salsa club, and went for a long walk in a park drinking a cheap red wine :-).

What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is eating, especially in the evening, and usually these unhealthy things are full of fat like chips, peanuts, or cheese.
