Meet Edin, our amazing Team lead, Senior front-end developer, and not to forget one of the Co-Founders of HiGroup. He is a family guy through and through, and this translates also to our culture at HiGroup.

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

My usual day starts with a good breakfast early in the morning, between 7-8 am. I like to take a slow start in my day by eating something good and taking the time for my body to consume its first cup of fresh coffee.

I used to take the bus to work, but as this COVID-19 situation struck I now usually walk to my office which is a good 15 min walk in the morning. I arrive there at 9 am and have a quick chat with my colleagues.

My primary role is as a senior front-end developer and team lead. I aim to make the best looking web applications possible with new challenges every day, besides that I engage with my team and try to make a family-like culture in the company.

In your opinion, what are the hallmark traits of a great Frontend Developer?

Being a frontend is usually just trying to recreate the design given to you in the form of some HTML and JavaScript.

For me what makes a big difference in a potentially good frontend developer is someone who wants to see the design he is making through the end-users eyes and try to put himself in their skin. With that and with an open-minded designer he can create a masterpiece that the end-users will enjoy using and most importantly will quickly understand how to use it.

What advice do you have for prospective HiGroup candidates?

I have been a mentor for a few guys in our company now and I see the biggest problem was not asking and trying to prove themselves by spending countless hours finding the solution to their problem.

There is no shame in asking sometimes silly questions, just so you can remember that for next time. At the end of the day what is important is that the product is delivered to the customer.

My advice is, be humble, be persistent and do NOT be afraid of asking any questions. No one became the best swimmer or basketball player by themselves, there is always a good mentor behind them.

How do you balance your career at HiGroup and friends & family?

I usually don’t, my wife supports me in what I do, also my family understands and supports me so I work most of the time.

The golden rule I have set for myself is taking the weekends completely off so I can catch up with my family and friends, and also let some of that steam go out with some good basketball game or a hike or something like that.

What is the next life milestone you want to achieve?

In my personal life I want to settle down in a nice place and in the next few years start a family of my own.

Business-wise I want to focus more on new technologies that are coming in our path and want to focus on our team to embrace them so we can make more world-changing products out there.

What sparks joy for you?

What makes me happy and sparks joy in me is seeing how quickly and how strong we are growing. The things we achieve, the people we have managed to push in the right direction so now they become experts in their field, and amazing products with happy clients we make.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would start my meal with a good starter and that would be some steak tartare, for the main meal some good steak with vegetables and for the desert American pancakes for sure.

If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and why?

Huh, I have a few of them.

First would be Kobe Bryant because of his mamba mentality and how persistent and determined he was.

The second one would be Elon Musk, just to see where all of those crazy ideas come from and how he is able to realize most of them.

What is your favourite PS game?

Best and favourite PlayStation game would be NBA because I’m a former basketball player and I still enjoy connecting with basketball in any way.
