Time to meet the Team Lead at UppLabs, Alex!

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

My primary responsibilities as a Team Lead include strategic tasks such as decisions on the technology stack and evaluating incoming projects. I am also conducting meetings with dev teams, and with clients, communicating with them on a daily basis. Also, the code review is on me.

What do you like most about UppLabs?

UppLabs is a human-oriented company with a great structure (Flat Company organization type). These qualities are lacking among the other companies.

Also, here you can try to change roles within the company – if you feel like you will be more productive, let’s say, as an HR specialist and would like to switch from the business development department there, everyone will support you. UppLabs is a place where talented people get a second chance for professional realization.

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

Among my hobbies, you can find mostly technical ones. I like messing around with PC hardware :) Another expensive hobby is acoustic car tuning. I’ve already done that for some of my friends. Plus, the keyboards tuning and upgrading are what inspires me.

What has been your favourite project at UppLabs?

I can’t say about the only one favourite project, because I like most of them. But I can name my favourite part in each project I’m involved in at UppLabs. I love to help solve challenging tasks, participate in their planning and development, evaluate new incoming projects. Every part that demands going beyond my routine and asking for more input is my favourite.

What are 3 words to describe UppLabs?

I associate UppLabs with:

1. Honesty (stakeholders are open and ready to give you true feedback, but with showing the right direction and readiness to assist)
2. Quality (we double-check everything, our approach to projects sounds like ‘do it right, or don’t do at all and say about it’)
3. Interest (in UppLabs, we are trying to engage team members in the projects that will help them evolve and develop)

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

Except for dedicating my free time to hobbies, I named earlier, being outside the office I like to travel with my family. We take the car and let the road lead us to all the different unexplored places.
