Time to meet the Agile Coach at Sprintform, Bence!

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

I started as a Scrum Master, currently working as an Agile Coach. While my original role was very similar, my current role gives me more opportunity to work together with more teams and their leaders, helping them on their Agile journey. I mostly work from home, facilitating or participating in calls all day.

Therefore it is important for me always to be present and up-to-date with every team's progress I'm working with. Even though every day is pretty long, I can finish them on time, so I have time for after-work activities.

In April 2022, I had a chance to complete Camino de Portuguese; the picture was taken upon my arrival in Santiago de Compostela

What drew you to engineering? Have you always worked as an agile coach?

I have worked in IT since 2014, originally starting as an IT supporter. During those years, I had the chance to meet a lot of fields and technologies in the industry and had several roles that helped these as well.

In the end, I started to work on IT projects, and when that company started its Agile journey, I got familiar with Scrum Master and Agile Coach. Then I got an offer in 2018 to work as a Scrum Master, and ever since that has been what I have done.

How do you balance your career at Sprintform and friends & family?

In my view, a solid work-life balance is one of the most important things to focus on in every role to avoid burnout. This is something I put pressure on in my case but also something I coach within my teams.

My friends and family know that I'm pretty much a workaholic, but luckily I learned to remind myself each time that I can only be fully successful in my job if my personal life is balanced as well. Do your best at work, but don't forget to live for yourself in the first place.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

I am passionate about sports, most of the time, on weekdays, I'm in the nearby Crossfit gym, and on the weekends, I love to leave the city and go road biking, hiking, or do some water sports in the summer, and winter sports during winter.

My friends are very important to me as well. Therefore, I try to spend as much time with them as possible.

Teaching the next generation's IT professionals

Are you an iPhone or android type of person?

I'm an iPhone user for a couple of years now. Originally I had some Android phones, then switched to Windows Phone for a year or two.

My first iOS device was company-owned, but since then, I have chosen them as my phone as well. I like that they are more stable than the other platforms and that security is focused.

Describe what you were like at age 10.

I was really into video games. My brother and I spent hours each day after school and homework in front of the computer and argued about whose turn it is. This summed up my weekdays, but luckily I was pretty active back then as well during the weekends, and we went to play football with my friends.

I still think that I would not have ended up in IT without my game mania back then.
