Time to meet the Project Manager at DO OK, Justina!

Why did you join DO OK, and what has kept you here?

One of the reasons why I joined DO OK is because they stood out with their hiring process. My experience with job applications was most of the time similar - you receive automatic emails and you feel like you are a number in the hiring process.

But with DO OK, I felt that the process was much more personal from the way how they conducted the interviews to the way they were taking their time to give feedback after each stage of the process. It felt that they were caring about me as a human and as a candidate.

To me, this was a mirror of their culture, and I knew I would like to be part of it. I stay at DO OK for the same reason. I enjoy so much the atmosphere at the company and the culture of caring - we support and care about each other, and we care about clients and projects.

You can feel the human approach. The DO OK culture provides space to grow, to improve, and to be proactive - I absolutely appreciate that.

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

As a project manager, my main responsibility is to take care of the assigned projects. The work is very dynamic. On one hand, it is about overseeing delivery by tracking the progress, predicting the budget and time, mitigating risks, reporting and problem-solving.

On the other hand, it involves a lot of communication with different stakeholders and expectation management. When working with project teams, my goals are to support them and to ensure a smooth collaboration and development process.

When communicating with clients, I focus on transparent communication and ensuring that clients know how we are progressing and whether we face any challenges. At the same time at DO OK, we pay attention to how satisfied our clients and project teams are.

So, part of my role is to collect feedback, to see how we can improve processes and collaboration on a project level. We also discuss and analyse feedback internally, because we value knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and growth.

My day-to-day reflects the dynamic aspects of my job - it is divided between working on projects, communicating with different stakeholders, participating in meetings, and having focus time to work on ongoing tasks / internal projects. I love that every day is different and seeing projects come to life :)

What do you find to be the most exciting aspect of DO OK?

From my perspective, the most exciting aspect of DO OK is that they provide the space to learn and grow. I was hired at DO OK as a client experience specialist, but while working and observing project managers, I learnt that project management is something that I would like to do.

DO OK was very supportive towards my career change. They provided training, consultations, and feedback sessions that allowed me to become a project manager. This was very important to me and I feel grateful for it to this day.

In addition to that, at DO OK, growing is not only about big changes but also about people being encouraged to continuously learn and develop their skills and knowledge further - and that is I think the most exciting aspect of DO OK.

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

I love being outdoors and especially in nature, so whenever it is possible, we try to get out of the city to hike in the woods or bike through the fields, and just enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of nature.

I also really enjoy learning, so I always try to gain some new skills - right now, I am learning Finnish and how to sew clothes. But there are also times when I am a bit lazy, so I stay at home on a couch and read a good book, watch a movie or immerse myself in a video game :)

What is the favourite part about working for DO OK?

I have two favourite parts about working at DO OK. Firstly, the people - my colleagues are very kind, positive, and supportive. It is a pleasure and joy to collaborate with them.

Secondly, meaningful projects - I love that DO OK aims to work with projects that focus on a sustainable future and positively contribute to society.

What did you want to be when growing up?

As a kid, I always had many ideas and was proactive in reaching them. Once I really wanted to become an artist, so I painted (as much as a five-year-old can paint) postcards and sold them to the neighbours.

At some point, my cousin and I wanted to have a music band and placed an advertisement in a newspaper for a band manager. I also went through the phase of wanting to become an astronaut, a teacher, and more. But I have to say, I am very happy with the path that I chose in the end :)
