Time to meet the Senior full-stack developer at Wolfpack Digital, Florin!

Why did you join Wolfpack Digital, and what has kept you here?

I started working project-based as an outside collaborator a few months after the company was founded and I could feel right from the beginning that we enjoy working together and I also knew that I have a lot to learn from this experience.

It didn’t take long to understand that it’s time for me to join the pack as a team member.

As for what kept me here, I’ve always had friends in the company. I like the vibe and I find myself in sync with the company values. It was always a place where I could grow and I had the freedom to experiment with what I wanted to do, from management to mentoring and to various technical positions.

How has Wolfpack Digital helped you in your career development?

I think Wolfpack Digital gave me the proper environment to grow during all the phases of my career. We always had the people willing to help, challenging projects and we always cared about the quality of our work. And I could consult with Gina and Adrian since they were always willing to help.

What drew you to engineering? Have you always worked in programming roles?

I liked coding and solving complex problems since high school, so I become a software engineer. I didn’t want to become a web developer necessarily, but I started building websites for fun and I guess that’s what made me choose an internship where I knew I’ll be doing web development.

I had some other part-time roles as a Scrum Master or Product Owner, but I could never give up programming.

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

My favourite hobby is definitely running, even if it’s training, racing or doing it just for fun. For me, the best experiences come from running in the mountains, but since that’s not always possible, I enjoy running on the streets or on the track almost just as much. Another hobby is cycling, and even if I don’t get to do it that much as running, it becomes extremely useful for commuting and beating the traffic.

What's your favourite quote, or motto?

“Sometimes, you just do things!” - Scott Jurek, Eat and Run.

Scott Jurek is one of the greatest ultramarathoners in history and he grew up in a rough family environment. This is what his father used to tell him when he was young and I think it’s true, life’s not always easy or it doesn’t all make sense, but sometimes you just do things. I often remember this quote.

What did you want to be when growing up?

I wanted to be a mountain rescuer or a firefighter. Even though I’m neither, I’m glad that I found my passion for the mountains.
