Time to meet the Head of Marketing at UppLabs, Iryna!

What's your motto or personal mantra?

My personal mantra is 'you – is what you believe in'. This concerns everything, from personal life to work. If I believe in honesty, I am honest, or if I believe in equality I should have the same attitude towards all people no matter their age or professional level. Also, I believe in karma, so trying to behave well as possible :)

Why did you join UppLabs, and what has kept you here?

When I was looking for a new position, UppLabs wasn't the first company I received the offer from. So I told Anna (UppLab's CHRO, currently), that I will probably take the other offer that came first, and that there is no reason for her to continue communication with me.

But she said those words I still remember. She said: 'It's always worthy to communicate with the perfect candidate, even if the chances are low! We are interested in you and are ready to fight for such specialist!'.

Then I understood that this company certainly have point. UppLabs team were a team of fighters, a group of people that are not afraid to go the extra mile to reach their goal. I liked this approach a lot.

Moreover, even when I got 2 other offers, I was still unsure, so I continued communication with Anna. Eventually, I took UppLabs offer :).

Their persistence, their beliefs and the company structure (Flat Company organizational structure = no odd hierarchy, but more autonomy) – is why I joined and am still happy to work in UppLabs.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

I like drawing, so when some inspiration arrives I take pencils or brushes and spend some time on art.

Can't say that I am a great artist, but playing with colours and shapes help me to explore surroundings and concentrate on what is going on inside me.

Also, I love learning (everything) :). But currently, I devote these activities to the Norwegian language. Which appeared to be extremely interesting and mild.

Describe what you were like at age 10.

At the age of 10, I was fat and stubborn :)

And always self assure. Loved animals (I still do) and reading. Hated pop-music. And classic music I hated as well.

Most of the qualities remain with me still today, except for being fat.

How has UppLabs helped you in your career development?

I believe that the company's structure (Flat Organization) encouraged me to be more independent and responsible.

As we all are autonomous within our departments, it's always nice to know that you can do whatever YOU believe is the best to drive improvements and success. Because you carry all the responsibility. And it's you to decide what to do next (keeping in mind the common goal all your colleagues do – the company's success).

When you're gaining this degree of freedom, this works as some kind of recognition for you and stimulates you to work better to get even more.
