Time to meet today’s star, the Engineering Manager at Codeus, Lazar!

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

Since we recently embraced new structure inside the firm, responsibilities have changed accordingly. My primary focus is leadership so that people can maximize their growth potential and yield the best result each time. Moreover, customer satisfaction plays an important role in my day-to-day responsibilities, and the tendency to bring only the best to the table gives me the motivation to move further.

How do you describe your work personality vs. your home life personality?

This is a vital comparison in my opinion - being able to differentiate work from home, namely professional life from personal one. My belief is that I do a pretty good job on that field since I really tend to keep my behavior at work on a professional level, while also being able to naturally enjoy life outside it. Decision-making and process of thinking also differ whether I am at work or at home. Nevertheless, balance is inevitable in either case; otherwise the one might become miserable and depressed all the time. Fortunately, Codeus takes this very seriously and provides employees with excellent work-life balance solutions.

If you were to write a self-help book, what would the topic be?

“The irrational accuracy of your method” - Actually something I started writing long time ago. The title itself may be confusing at first. However, I believe it makes total sense once you start reading it. Unfortunately, I stopped writing at some point due to multiple factors, but the topic is both a psychological and philosophical nature. It dives deep into human behavior and the process of thinking, relying massively on metaphors. The goal was to cover all major areas from everyday life using scientific knowledge and years of research.

What have you gained from working at Codeus?

It's actually a pretty long list if I have to be honest. When I got a job here, I had some weird feeling. Later on, I found out that it was legit: apparently I was suddenly involved with so many processes and people that my skill points skyrocketed. Few years ago, I was just a regular coder that was specialized in few areas. Now, I can proudly say that beside the software engineering part, Codeus is the reason I significantly elevated my business skills as well.

How do you define success in life?

Happiness. I don't think I need to explain it, but in short: it's the whole purpose of one's life goals. It doesn't matter what's the reason behind it, as long as you are happy, you are succeeding and moving in the right direction. Now happiness can be in different shapes and forms and often can be deceiving, so just to clear any misunderstanding, I'm talking about true happiness here.

What did you want to be when growing up?

Movie actor. I know it's one of those “default” answers for this type of question, but I'm being honest here. When I was in elementary school, I was so into this profession, so I practiced at home, attended some casting competitions, even tried to produce a budget film multiple times and so on.
