What do you find to be the most exciting aspect of CyberLab Solutions?

Friends I work with every day and working on interesting projects using latest tech stacks.

What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?

My role as a DevOps Engineer at CyberLab Solutions is to help our customers to architect and build systems on the popular cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP and Azure.

I offer systems design, product guidance, and education regarding best practices. I also work with product teams to improve processes.

What drew you to engineering? Have you always worked in DevOps roles?

Opportunity to work on different stuff almost every day. For example, one day I can work on networking, Linux administration and VMs, some other day I can do some programming, setting up CI/CD pipelines, troubleshooting some cloud services and working on Kubernetes and containerization and after that I can setup some monitoring, alerting and log management solutions and try to improve security.

Possibilities are endless.

In your opinion, what are the hallmark traits of a great DevOps?

Great cloud engineers recognize that cloud-native engineering dictates building scalable, highly available environments which take advantage of managed services in the cloud. These practices make your work life easier in the long run but require solid Knowledge and training to successfully accomplish.

Not everyone has the persistence to learn the intricacies required to do this.

What is the best vacation you’ve been to?

Island hopping in Greece. We threw on the backpacks, no reservations, and went from island to island by ferry. People with B&B's wait on the docks with pictures of their place.

We started in Mykonos and finished by renting a private villa owned by an architect and fashion designer on the volcanic caldera in Santorini. Went sailing in Naxos, explored ruins in Delos, hiking in Amorgos. We even wound up appearing on the Travel Channel with Samantha Brown on Paros. The islands are so beautiful and the lifestyle laid back.
