Time to meet the CTO at Digitalya OPS, Bogdan!
Why did you join Digitalya, and what has kept you here?
My journey with Digitalya started more than 7 years ago. I have started my career in this company.
At some point, I left the company for a brief period of time because I was curious to see what it is like in other software companies. I quickly realized that I need to get back because of the environment and the culture of Digitalya.
For me, it was and still is the place where I could grow, where I made friendships that transcends the working barrier, and also the place I could experiment in order to choose the right path for me.
This is me
How do you describe your work personality vs. your home life personality?
Thinking about this, I can tell that there isn't a very big difference. Of course, there are some different aspects, one of them being how I approach different situations.
In my home life, I am a very direct person. This came as a pact between me and my friends. In my work life, I've learned that every person is different and you have to choose the best way of communicating what you want.
What did you want to be when growing up?
While growing up, I wanted to be a priest. I've spent a great part of my childhood in a small village and religion had a great impact on my development.
As a result, I was periodically going to churches and monasteries and I was even part of the church choir.
Everything changed when I started high school and had my first contact with the computer science area. The rest is history, becoming instead a programmer.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
I believe that we should constantly invest in our growth and one of my outside the office activities is reading. I like to read everything from science fiction literature to leadership.
While I am not reading, my guilty pleasure is to binge-watch my favourite TV series.
All about reading
What’s been the most memorable experience during your tenure so far at the company?
What I've noticed is that when things are working well, everyone is happy, but when difficult times come, you can really see what a company values.
One difficult time for us was at the beginning of the pandemic. Before that our main customers were from the aviation industry, one of the most affected industries by this event.
In a matter of a few days, we have lost a big part of our client portfolio and we had to re-group and see how we can address it.
What impressed me was the direction we took: every team member was involved and wanted to do more. They gave 110% without anyone asking.
At the same time from a leadership perspective, the company had one major objective: whatever we need to do we will focus on maintaining a healthy intact team instead of profits.
This experience is a memorable one because looking back, I know that I have an awesome team close to me, and a company that has similar values to my own.
What are your three most overused words/phrases?
My most overused words are:
- awesome (the marketing team has to closely look in every article/testimonial I write for this :)) )
- good job
- it isn't a word but an emoji :D 😃
