Antonina Levkhanyan, the Head and the Heart of Recruitment at ElifTech

Meet Antonina Levkhanyan, our head of recruitment. She has been working at ElifTech for more than three years and has become the heart of the company during this time. Everybody calls her Tosha. She’s always friendly, moderately strict, and ready to help and support both newcomers and those who have been working for us for a long time. Tosha can worthily be called the best head of recruitment ever!

How did you join ElifTech?

Actually, two things contributed to my decision:

First of all, a friend told me that there was a recruiter position open at ElifTech that was a fit for my skills.

And second of all, it was perfect timing as my previous company was closing and I was ready to review other job opportunities. So, it was quite a comfortable and smooth shift.

What won me over at ElifTech is that the CEO of the company, Anatoliy, made himself available to join the interview and took an active part in it. It brought a very nice feeling that I was about to become a very important part of the team.

What is your role at ElifTech?

I am responsible for the people in terms of development, their qualifications, and vacancies (selection, interviewing, hiring). Some of the tasks are performed by the recruitment team and I control the whole process as head of recruitment.

There are two interconnected departments at ElifTech: Sales and Recruitment. Sales employees are responsible for attracting clients, while recruitment sources the talent that works on those clients’ assignments.

Thus, when there are several clients with new projects, recruitment works hard to provide the right people for the job. That’s when my team is on fire (laughing).

What's been the most memorable experience during your tenure so far at the company?

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is team building and corporate events. Such activities are not only relaxing but also really motivating as you are inspired by the people you work with. I am so driven to work and find new ways of looking into issues after spending some quality time with my team members! I feel we are almighty.

Another invaluable part of my work is meeting with the top management team and discussing strategies for the company. It is one of top management’s greatest achievements that everybody feels they can contribute to the company’s success. It keeps employees from burning out, and it stimulates new ideas.

What are the three main advantages of ElifTech?

The company atmosphere is inspiring and it is really different compared to my other places of work. And I have worked in the sphere for quite some time to be able to judge.

Another distinctive feature of ElifTech is its flat structure. For instance, nobody is afraid to knock on the managers’ doors to ask a “stupid” question. There are no stupid questions here.

Last but not least—freedom of speech. Everybody expresses their opinion without any fear of sounding unprofessional. The top managers will always listen and take those ideas into account.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

I love to fish in my free time. I enjoy the moment when I cast the fishing line and wait for a fish to bite. It is both calming and exciting.

I also love drum and bass. I go to parties and festivals to get that feeling of drive and energy. I love how this culture and rhythm revives me.

Additionally, jazz brings me ease and comfort and I value such sensations as well. Working with people, I need to either get energy from other spheres or look for ways to relax.

Before working at ElifTech, what is the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Once I worked at an engineering company. During one of the corporate events, an invited guest—a psychic—first agreed to come but then did not show up. We had already announced the fortune-telling activity on our corporate radio, so there was no way back.

Other employees dressed me up in a folk costume and put make-up on me so that nobody would recognize me. I was the fortune-teller, and I sat there the whole day and "predicted the future” (laughing). It was the most vivid experience in my professional life.

How do you describe your work personality vs. your home-life personality?

I think these personalities are different.

At work, I concentrate more , I’m calm, and I listen to the opinions of my colleagues. I think my work personality is more flexible and ready to discuss possible issues.

At home, I am more quick-tempered and active.

If you were an animal what would you be?

I would definitely be a bird as I like height and freedom. And I would be a predator as I like to be in charge (laughing). A good example is an eagle.

What is the best vacation you’ve been on?

When I have spare time I spend it with my friends from Odessa or Kyiv. For me, short periods away from work are enough to reboot, so my max vacation is six/seven days, but usually it’s even shorter.

The best vacation I can remember is a three-day trip I took to the Carpathians, where I enjoyed each moment of that harmony and proximity to nature.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Being a fighter for justice, I always wanted to be a police officer. But, somehow, I changed my mind at the last moment. Now I see that both my imaginary and real profession have one similarity—working with people—which is the core of my vocation.
