Time to meet the Creative copywriter at OLDBOY, Laura!
Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?
I love writing poetry, painting, music (playing some instruments and dancing), and studying languages and video games. I spend a lot of time with my son, his upbringing is half a hobby and half an obligation. I take courses about the child's brain and positive education.
I am currently editing a poetry book with the intention of publishing it. So exciting!
One of my four cats, Tiger. They help me not to lose my mind.
What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?
I write newsletters, diverse texts for web pages, and commercial advertisements... They are destined for the sale of certain products. I like to use a relaxed and fun tone that catches the consumer, so they want to know more about our product. Sometimes I also make sketches and designs to plan those newsletters or web pages. I enjoy doing my job.
What did you want to be when growing up?
I wanted to be an archaeologist (Lara Crof was my first 'influencer'), but also a veterinary (I love pets), actress, and singer. Despite not being anything like that, nowadays I live happily. But for sure, in the depth of my soul, I hope someday I could be a successful archaeologist-veterinary-actress-singer. I mean, why not? ;)
What do you like most about OLDBOY?
Although it sounds like a cliché, we are like a family. We trust each other, we support each other at a professional and personal level, and we have achieved an enviable work environment. We can endure endless work meetings together and enjoy a group meal like children. It is a positive aspect that is not found in all companies.
I also love drawing, often ironically posts.
Before working at Oldboy, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I have held many different and curious jobs: I've been a veterinary nurse (participating even in trauma or oncological surgeries!), I have served popcorn and sold tickets at a movie theater, and I have been a secretary in a prestigious law firm too (and I have only given three examples). It is somewhat unusual, I know! But I have learned important personal and work lessons in each and every one of my previous jobs.
What's your motto or personal mantra?
We are all gonna die. Yes, it sounds creepy, but it is a reality that we must keep in mind: both when we enjoy success and when we go through depressing moments. Everything is temporary, the good and the bad; everything has an end. Therefore, let us enjoy the gift of life to the fullest and have patience and resilience during bad times.
