Say hello to Alexandar Jovchevski a.k.a Alex. After working for a few big companies, he found his place at Web Factory as an iOS developer, in the early days when there were just several people. Fast forward to today, he is now part of client-relation, technical consultancy, and business development (all while working on his technical and managerial skills). A graduate from a technical faculty that specializes in computer science, he has become one of the core team members of the company. Let’s read a bit more about Alex, his professional and personal life.

How did you first learn about Web Factory?

I've known about Web Factory since the very beginning, but I knew very little about it. One year after it was founded, I started hearing word that they are working on software development for iOS, which was a very new technology at the time.

They might have been the first company in Macedonia doing this. Two years after it was founded, they started hiring for the first time, and I joined the team. The rest, as they say, is history.

What is your role at Web Factory?

For a long time, I was an iOS software developer and was leading the iOS team at Web Factory. Now I'm a business developer, team lead, client relations, and client consultant. In the past few years I have been involved in a variety of departments as part of the core team.

What’s been the most memorable experience during your tenure so far at the company?

It's hard to pick out one since there is always continuous progress and new things happening. I'd say one is the official assembly of the core team (leadership) that opened a whole new dimension of transparency and responsibility for me, the other is me designing and organizing the first version of the loyalty awards ceremony.

What do you like most about Web Factory?

There are plenty of things keeping me and others here, from the newest tech trends, top talent, great teamwork, to an incredible working atmosphere and good work-life balance. What matters the most to me is my colleagues (both as professionals and individuals), and the care for the people shown by the company and the management.

In many ways, we are like a family - with a common goal, and helping each other out, and caring about each other.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

I'm a curious person and I find a lot of stuff interesting. Some things I've been doing for a long time are swimming, hiking, reading, and movies.

I occasionally play the guitar as well. Also, going out and hanging out with friends—this is everyday life in Macedonia (we're very friendly, warm, and communicative)

What is the next life milestone you want to achieve?

Currently, I'm on the lookout for apartments, trying to find my next (more permanent) home. Also, on the bucket list is a car trip through Europe—unfortunately, the pandemic postponed this :(

Before working at Web Factory, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I used to work for a much bigger company before joining WF, and while my technical skills advanced at a much slower pace (because I was working five different things), I took part in a lot of meetings with big important clients.

I found these meetings really interesting, and the opportunity to work with and learn from very experienced people gave me a new perspective to my professional life.

What's your favorite quote, or motto?

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.". Also, "The little things, they are the biggest thing."

What's your favorite newspaper, blog?

I don't follow any particular blog, but mostly read articles from random sources. Valuable experience comes from looking at things from many different perspectives.

If I have to pick one, I would say Bonusly, they have great articles about company culture, employee branding, engagement, etc.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

Neil Armstrong, when he landed on the moon. I'm afraid of flying btw...

What are your three most overused words/phrases?

"We can tackle this by...", "To be honest...", Can't think of a third one :))
